Trinity Church

Constructed between 1872-1877 and designed by Henry Hobson Richardson, Trinity Church is still considered to be one of the most famous and most significant top ten buildings in the United States of America. Its style is more similar to the European architecture than to the 19th century American style, due to the church's tall tower, huge arches and clay roof.


Boston Public Library

Established in 1848, and opened in 1895, Boston Public Library is the first large library open to public in America that brought also another premiere, that of allowing people to borrow books and other materials at home. The architectural style of Boston Public Library in the exterior is similar to an Italian palazzo, made after the one in Rimini, Italy.

Currently, Boston Public Library has an impressive collection of 8.9 million books, and it houses also the personal library of President John Adams.


John Hancock Buildings

The John Hancock buildings are made up of 3 different buildings, constructed by John Hancock Insurance companies. They are known as the Berkeley Building which was initially named the old John Hancock Building and was Boston's second tallest building, the John Hancock Tower, which is now New England's tallest building and it is constructed in a modernist style, containing also an observation deck on its top. The last and the oldest of the three buildings is the Stephen L. Brown Building, an impressive construction built in 1922.


Old South Church

The church was constructed in 1874 in the Venetian Gothic style, being one of the best examples of the influence of Ruskin on the American architectural style. Also known as New Old South, the church was designated as a US National Historic Landmark and it remains among the older religious communities in America.


Museum of Fine Arts

Boston's Museum of Fine Arts is definitely a main tourist attraction in the city, being one of the largest museums in the United States, with more than 450,000 works of art. Located close to Copley Square, it has been here since 1909 and it includes Egyptian sculptures and jewelry, works of Paul Gauguin, Monet, Van Gogh and Renoir. Also, being the sister museum of the Japanese Nagoya Museum, it houses the largest collection of Japanese works in the world, outside of Japan, with over 5,000 Japanese pottery pieces and a Japanese garden.

Also knows as The R2-D2 Building, the construction is part of the Prudential Center complex and it is one of the city's and Back Bay's most recent skyscraper. The building was completed in 2002 and it has 36 floors, being the proud bronze winner of Emporis Skyscraper Award in 2002.
